The Downtown Panama City Marina Redevelopment Plan is in full swing and will transform this area into a better place for residents and visitors. The Community Redevelopment agency has a master plan in place with over $5.5 million dedicated to create a more pedestrian friendly area for all to enjoy. Plans include:

  • An 85-foot tall Lighthouse with observation deck
  • Amphitheater lawn
  • New walkways
  • A community park
  • An area for community events
  • A regional park with a tourist destination
  • A Pavilion
  • Interactive water feature
  • And more!

The plan is to expand the Marina by adding more uses for residents and visitors. In order to guide visitors and residents through the new Marina, an interactive kiosk and orientation center will be installed. Currently, families don't use the marina much, unless they fish. With this master plan, the major objective is to change this and make the Marina a family-friendly place.

Three main areas are a part of the plan including the Civic Plaza, Marina Park and T Dock. All of these areas will work in harmony with the overall plan for the Marina. The Civic Plaza will become a place for celebrations and gatherings, with a direct relationship with the Civic Center and City Hall.

The T Dock will become the place for boaters and will include boat slips, a green space, sunset point with vending, walking promenade and fishing areas. The Marina Park will provide visitors with a waterfront portal and will become a place for events and social gatherings. It will include an amphitheater lawn, lighthouse, Splash Park, vending and more.

Construction began in April and will last throughout the summer. There's no estimated date of completion, but throughout the process, updates will be posted on the city website. The total project is expected to cost around $9.5 million.
