Founded in 1828 by Robert Beveridge, Marianna quickly became a politically powerful city. Marianna was military headquarters for southern troops assigned to defend Northwest Florida. The Battle of Marianna occurred in 1863, where Union Forces attacked the city. Marianna picked up the pieces and became the great place it is today.
