Earning an honor, such as the Digital Capital of the state of Florida is quite amazing for Santa Rosa Beach. Google gave the 2013 eCity Award to Santa Rosa Beach because of the strong web presence of local businesses. It's easy to find activities, hotels, restaurants and more, which is why Google gave the award to the city.

After analyzing the strength of many small businesses in areas across the 50 states, it was decided that Santa Rosa Beach has the highest score in the state of Florida. The independent research firm looked at social media influence, web presence and many other factors before making the final decision.

Since the businesses in Santa Rosa Beach are providing ways for customers to find them and finding customers through online marketing, Google felt the award was more than deserving.

It's an honor for the town to receive this award, especially since only 12,000 residents liv here full time. The 30A website is a big part of why the award was given and the 30A Facebook page made a huge difference, as well. With over 240,000 fans of the Facebook page, it's easy to see how a web presence is affecting the town.

Of course, visitors come to the beach for the sun, white sandy beaches and fun, but they need to be able to find the best local restaurants, stores and more. With the boom of the internet, many businesses in Santa Rosa Beach are taking advantage by providing easy ways for visitors and residents to quickly find what they're looking for.

Whether it's a local restaurant serving a specific type of food or a specialty shop you heard about from a friend, a quick Google search will probably show you exactly what you're after. The award is something for everybody in the Santa Rosa Beach area to be proud of and hopefully the few businesses not taking full advantage of new technology will get on board soon.
