Mardi Grass

The Baytowne Wharf is your Mardi Gras destination this month at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort Gumbo Festival. This is one of the best events of the winter on the Gulf Coast and usually sells out. It’s been going strong for 26 years and the festival takes over the Village of Baytowne Wharf during the weekend of President’s Day.

The event will start on February 13th and the fun doesn’t end until the 17th. Here is a look at the fun to be had at the Baytowne Wharf for Mardi Gras.

What to expect

The 26th annual Sandestin Gumbo Festival is taking place at the Village of Baytowne Wharf over President’s Day weekend in celebration of Mardi Gras. The party starts on Friday, February 13th at Fat Tuesdays Daiquiri Bar located at 9300 Emerald Coast Parkway in Baytowne Wharf, FL. The Baytown Seafood Boil will start at 4pm on the 13th.

On Saturday the 14th, head over to the party from 12-4pm for live Zydeco music from Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe. They will have the best gumbo cook-off on the Gulf Coast and family activities going on. You can try dark roux, light roux, seafood, chicken and more at the gumbo cook-off. You’ll get to vote for

“The People’s Choice” award in gumbo and take part in the raffle for items from participating restaurants. Judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd to participants. Winners will be included in the event’s marketing package, get on the radio and get print advertising through sponsors, plus prize money.

Tickets

Tickets will cost $30 on the day of the event or $20 in advance. You can purchase them online or at the Graffiti & The Funky Blues Shack, Sandestin Welcome Center’s front desk and the Aloha Surf Company. Proceeds will benefit the Sandestin Foundation for Kids, an organization that helps to make a positive difference in kids’ lives.

Keep the party going

The party will continue on Sunday, February 15th at the Mardi Gras Dog Parade where costumed dogs and owners will toss beads and party favors through the parade. On the 17th, you can check out the Annual Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash Parade in the Village. It’s a family-friendly event with colorful floats, golf carts, marchers dressed in costumes and street performers.
