If you want to play golf on a course that has hosted PGA tour events, you need to make your way to Hombre Golf Club. This club hosted its first professional event in 1990, which was the Panama City Beach Classic. The course added another set of nine holes in 2001, making it a 27-hole course. They call the three nines the "Good", "Bad" and "Ugly".


With four sets of tees, any golfer can play this course and enjoy their round. All golfers can find the right yardage for their skill level from just under 7,000 yards to around 5,000 yards. The course provides plenty of challenge and a scenic round through the wetlands, lakes and marshes. This beautiful course is perfect for visitors and locals alike.

The Shell Show, presented by the Gulf Coast Shell Club will be held at the Panama City Beach Senior Center from June 21st to June 23rd. Come out and enjoy a huge display of seashells from all over the world. Adults can get in for $2 and children can get in for $1.

The show will run from 9am to 7pm on June 22 and from 10am to 5pm on June 23rd. All exhibits will be received Friday from noon to 5pm and the judging will happen Friday night. An awards banquet will happen on Saturday at 8pm. The awards banquet will happen at a local restaurant with major awards given out to some of the top exhibitors.

This will be the 16th shell show held and will feature awards in many categories including:

  • The duPont Trophy
  • The Conchologists of America Grand Trophy

Panama City Beach will see ladies taking out the flirty sundress instead of the little black dress on Thursday, June 20th. This is a free event happening at the Yacht Room inside The Boatyard. Ladies can enjoy free champagne, live entertainment, plenty of appetizers and more starting at 7pm.

The Real.Fun.BeachFest will be held on Saturday June 1st at the new Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheater. This event will features music with lawn seating. Some of the best music you will find in the area will happen at this festival including The Wanted, Britt Nicole and DG Alex Angelo. If you’re looking for an unforgettable way to kick off the summer, this is the event for you.

The Wanted will get the crowd up and moving with plenty of chart topping music, such as "Chasing the Sun" and "I'm Glad You Came." This group won the Breakout Artists of the Year award at the People's Choice Awards and they were nominated for the Best Music Group aware at the Radio Disney Awards. They are from the UK and considered one of the hottest boy bands on the scene today.

The 30A area has earned another international accolade with it's inclusion in Huffington Post's "10 Most Relaxing Coastal Drives in the US and Canada".  Those of us that live in this area find it no surprise that 30A was included.  The problem is, however,  that now that the world knows about it, is may not stay that way.  Traffic in Destin and further west on Highway 98 is in my mind, horrendous, but pull off on 30A and drive along its two lane roads with quaint homes, restaurants, bike paths and dune lakes and your mind drifts away to time spent at the beach when your were 8 or 9 and your family spent time in a rented beach cottage with hardwood floors, a screened in sleeping porch and ham sandwhiches and watermelon.
