The E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center is an environmental educational facility that serves students and teachers of 4th and 7th grade, as well as professional audiences during the school year. It’s transitioning from a private foundation to a public foundation, running on donations to fund operations.

The center is located in the Longleaf Pine ecosystem, the 6th most biodiverse area in the U.S. the center was developed by conservationist M.C. Davis in 2009. Here is a look at the work the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center is doing.

Mardi Grass

The Baytowne Wharf is your Mardi Gras destination this month at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort Gumbo Festival. This is one of the best events of the winter on the Gulf Coast and usually sells out. It’s been going strong for 26 years and the festival takes over the Village of Baytowne Wharf during the weekend of President’s Day.

The Stars & Guitars event is presented by The Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center. It will be held on January 30th from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. This will be an acoustic show with many artists on stage at the same time. The setting will be much like a storytelling event. All the proceeds will go to benefit the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center.

This is an annual event with plenty of great artists in attendance. The 2014 Starts & Guitars benefit sold out before they even confirmed the lineup or the date. If you want to attend this year's event, get your ticket before they are gone.
